Artists’ Workshop Gallery, 610-A Central Ave. MARCH FEATURED ARTISTS – JAN BRIGGS AND BONNIE RICCI

Jan Briggs endeavors to paint our world as she sees it – colorfully adding passion and glory, always endeavoring to command your attention. She often concentrates on vulnerable things, like water and wild life, especially endangered species; barns, old churches and regional scenes are also among her favorites. Creating in a variety of mediums, she will also present colorful florals loosely painted with black ink. Notes the artist: “One of my primary concerns is exploring color intensity and harmony.” Her March show will include new subjects and techniques.

Briggs studied art at Henderson State University, became a layout artist for the Arkansas Democrat News, and worked in the public schools and with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She returned to HSU and received her BFA in 1999.

Garnering many awards, Brigg’s art hangs in private and commercial collections. She is a member of the Traditional Art Guild, Three Rivers Art Guild, Whittington Artists, Ouachita Artists and Plein Air Painters.

A Chicago native, Bonnie Ricci was fortunate to receive private art instruction when she began her art journey during high school. She continued her art studies at community colleges until she married. She also lived in Minnesota, where she studied at the Minnetonka Center for the Arts.

Now, a resident of Hot Springs Village, Ricci devotes much of her time to her art, continuing her art education through informal group painting sessions and special workshops. Her subjects range from photorealistic florals to adventurous abstracts. Recently she accepted a new challenge, experimenting with acrylics and “pouring” to create abstract art, several of which will be featured during March. Ricci also joined a polymer clay guild and incorporates some of her clay pieces into the unique jewelry she creates with vintage metal zippers and antique findings.

Ricci is also active in the arts community, serving several roles in Brush Strokes Art Club as well as the Artists’ Workshop Gallery, as well as currently the Membership Chair.

The Featured Miniature Artists for March are Joanne Kunath and June Lamoureux
