Teachers Are Artists Too!

Teachers Are Artists Too!, an art exhibit showcasing artwork created by Henderson State University (HSU), National Park College (NPC), and Arkansas School for Math, Science, and Art’s (ASMSA) past and current art instructors, opens June 1 at the Landmark Building, 201 Market Street, in Hot Springs. The exhibit will run through August 24 and is open Monday–Friday 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., with extended hours until 8:00 p.m. for Gallery Walk on the first Friday of each month.
The opening reception for the exhibit is Friday, June 1 from at 5 -8 p.m. during Gallery Walk. Sponsors for the exhibit include Henderson State University-Hot Springs Academic Initiatives, National Park College, and Hot Springs Life Long Learning Institute.
HSU, NPC, and ASMSA art students have studied under excellent instructors that impart technical skills that they need to become professional artists. The instructors are known for their art skills however, they are more than teachers. They are artists that have developed their own unique style to visually communicate their insights and messages. They are a thriving voice in the art community.
This exhibit showcases paintings, drawings, hand prints, photography, pottery, and sculptures from fourteen instructors: Beverly Buys, Aaron Calvert, Hugh Dunnahoe, Margo Duvall, Thad Flenniken, Jim Larkin, Jennifer Seward, Gary Simmons, Richard Stephens, Katherine Strause, Lana Taliaferro, David Warren, Brad Wreyford, and Long Hua Xu.
