This 3-day workshop will center on the importance of preliminary value sketches and basic drawing skills as preparation to the actual painting. Both artists agree that drawing is a major problem for painters working in any medium, but especially watercolor. Gary Simmons will lead the design and drawing aspect of the workshop. Richard Stephens will lead the painting stage of the workshop, helping students translate their value sketches and contour drawings into finished watercolors. The objective is a provide several sequences of, first drawing and then painting, in order to reinforce the skills and relationships between these two stages of creating a painting. Lots of one-on-one assistance and input will be offered by both instructors as students work on the projects. A supply list is available at registration. This workshop is a part of the Teachers Are Artists Too! art exhibit at The Landmark Building. Simmons and Stephens are featured in the exhibit.
