ARTISTS’ WORKSHOP GALLERY, 1ST FRIDAY, AUGUST 3, GALLERY WALK, 5-9 pm.
Artists’ Workshop Gallery, 610-A Central Ave. AUGUST FEATURED ARTISTS – MICHAEL PREBLE AND TERESA WIDDIFIELD
Michael Preble, an award-winning photographer known for his imaginative computer manipulations, has exhibited nationally and regionally in art festivals, galleries and museums throughout the Deep South and the Atlantic states.
As August’s Featured Artist, he will be showing “Stonehenge,” a selection of photographs of the fabled Neolithic ruin on Salisbury Plain, England. Says Preble, “These images were taken during the days when you could walk around and through the stones. I worked with a number of digital filters to create imaginative and mystical new imagery.” In addition, Preble’s other display includes outdoor Arkansas scenes, images of Hot Springs and a few photographs from this year’s Mardi Gras.
Preble was formerly Curator and Museum School Director at the Arkansas Arts Center. He is now editor of the William Baziotes Catalogue Raisonné project and is Co-Curator at AWG. He also serves on the City’s Arts Advisory Committee. You can see more of his work at www.mpreble.com.
Teresa Widdifield began her artistic journey as a stained-glass artist designing large structural pieces over 30 years ago. As her creative side progressed, she was drawn to fine art where she found her voice.
Widdifield, a Hot Springs Village resident since 1996 is the owner of Teresa – Art Diva !, an art studio specializing in paintings of figurative women and pet portraits.
In her pet portraits Teresa paints the animals close up, giving great detail and interpretation to the eyes. She works from photos and wants to meet the animal whenever possible to fully incorporate its personality into the painting. She also paints a lot of portraits from pictures posthumously.
Her figurative ladies portray femininity in alluring poses. One of her series entitled Women in Art depicts women playing orchestral instruments with a flair of light and color.
She often paints in Sedona, Arizona where she has a 2nd home. Teresa also paints and teaches watercolor batik, a technique using watercolor, oriental Ginwashi paper and hot wax.
Come experience the dramatic expressions of art through the portrayal of this award winning Diva. You can also see some of her work at fineartamerica.com-Teresa Widdifield
The Featured Miniature Artists for August are Diane Morgan and Pati Trippel.
