Artist Bio:
Alvin “Chip” Johnson is an explorer. He loves spending time in nature – camping, hiking and exploring with his wife and 2 dogs. He often spends 2 weeks in nature off grid. This allows plenty of exploring time to finding the perfect photo opportunities. One of Chip’s favorite saying is “It’s not about the destination but the Journey” and his photography embodies this theme.
Artist Statement:
To me, Artventurous means taking the extra time and effort to experience this amazing place and imagine what it was like for the European explorers that discovered it almost 200 years ago. At Grand Prismatic Spring I spent over 5 hours to get the right light and color on the spring to do its beauty justice.
