
Students Invited to Enter Hot Springs 150th Birthday Essay Contest
Garland County students ages 18 and younger are invited to celebrate Hot Springs’ 150th birthday by sharing their vision for the city’s future in a special essay contest.
Students may submit an original essay of 300 words or less on one of two topics:
- My Future for Hot Springs
- My Vision for Hot Springs
The winning student will receive a $150 cash prize, courtesy of the Hot Springs Area Cultural Alliance, along with four tickets to the Hot Springs 150th Birthday Gala. The winner will also be invited to read their essay during the celebration on August 11 at the Hot Springs Convention Center.
How to Enter
Essays must:
- Be 300 words or less
- Be submitted as a PDF attachment
- Be emailed to 150essay@hotsprings.org by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, July 31
The email must also include:
- Student’s name, age, and grade
- School name
- Mailing address and phone number
- Parent or guardian’s name and phone number
About the 150th Birthday Gala
The Hot Springs 150th Birthday Gala will commemorate the city’s incorporation on August 11, when Hot Springs officially established its municipal government, including a mayor, city ordinances, and police and fire departments.
The event will feature a cocktail reception and formal dinner in Horner Hall at the Hot Springs Convention Center. Proceeds will benefit the Garland County Historical Society to support its mission of preserving and sharing the community’s history. For more information, email 150essay@hotsprings.org.
