About me:
The adult program at First Step RL Petty Center in Malvern started Art From the Heart in the fall of 2014. Our adults come to us with a variety of challenging special needs & intellectual disabilities. This program was formed to open the doors of opportunity for each adult through art. The goal of Art From the Heart is to build confidence, gain new skills, and to have our adults become more involved in and contributing to the community of Malvern.
Any adult that wants to participate is allowed the opportunity despite their limitations. As you will see, they soon exceed all expectations! The photography groups take monthly outings practice their photography in the community. Those participating in the art aspect have art lessons twice a month, and work on their drawings and paintings on their own during their off weeks. These adults are learning pencil, watercolors, oils, pastels, and hopefully clay molding. All those participating in Art From the Heart will have opportunities to enter art shows, gallery showings, and sell their art.
