48 years as a professonal artist, Gary Simmons is an artist exploring eclectic subject matter including western ,mythogoical, figure and landscape themes. Known primarily for draftsmanship and the pen, his other media include watercolor and oil. He is represented in the Justus Fine Arts Gallery and maintains a studio in his Hot Springs home.
Artist Statement:
A favorite exercise for me is impromptu composition that starts with an indiscriminate line and builds on shapes that ultimately lead to a finished composition, often one offering no rhyme or reason, but fun to look at and explain. Blue Shoe grew out of an interst in fanciful line and juxtaposed subjects drawn purely for the artist’s satisfaction.
