Artist Bio:
John Goodwin was born in El Dorado, Arkansas and studied art at Louisiana Tech University. He prefers to work in acrylics and his main subject matter is music, cultural symbols, Louisiana life, and other colorful subjects. He was the official 2021 artist for the King Biscuit Blues Festival, the 2022 Delta Roots Music Festival, and one of his works is on permanent display in the Delta Cultural Center in Helena.
Artist Statement:
This painting shows Arkansas’s native son and multi-Grammy winner Levon Helm, internationally known for his work in The Band, connected to his “Creative Roots” in the rural delta community of Turkey Scratch, Arkansas.
