Artist Bio:
I was born in the Yucatan peninsula, but I have lived in the US for the last 27 years. While I hold a PhD in Spanish colonial literature, I have always found the time to paint and take art classes. My paintings are bold, bright, and lively. I recently retired from university teaching duties, so now I devote my time to painting and other arts in my home studio.
Artist Statement:
Art helps me to express my experiences and philosophy of life. My colors scheme reflects my native tropics. I chose Singapore for its breathtakingly modern skyline. In this self-portrait I appear as a secret agent from an action movie in order to stress that painting is always an adventure.
