Description:

A free, 2-day, outdoor, juried festival is bursting with talented, fine artists, artisans, kids' events, and the Art Springs Stage featuring many live performances. Art Springs is held at Hill Wheatley Plaza and the adjacent Entertainment District on Malvern Avenue between Bridge Street and Spring Street in historic downtown Hot Springs and is open from 10 AM to 6 PM on Saturday, April 27, and Sunday, April 28, 10 AM to 4 PM.

Artist’s Village 

Approximately three dozen artists will set up shop at Art Springs. There will be live demonstrations and art for sale from a variety of genres, including fabric, blacksmithing, painting, jewelry, pottery, glass, and so much more. 

Art Springs Stage

The Art Springs Stage will feature the final round of the Glover Awards for Songwriting and favorite local artists such as Jacob Flores, Miranda Brewer, Christine DeMeo, Big Pappa Binns, and the Arkansas Highlands Folk Band.

Madame Zara

Artist’s Village at Hill Wheatley Plaza

Madame Zara brings her own zany spin to reading Tarot, “I tell truth,” she says, “mostly bad news. You know, like real life. But hey, I read for cheap so it evens out.” For a small fee, Madame Zara will read your cards at Art Springs. 

Graffiti Wall

Presented by Cutwell for Kids, this is a favorite for all ages! Leave your mark on the graffiti wall at Art Springs. 

Art Interactive Area in the Entertainment District

Located adjacent to Hill Wheatley Plaza in the Entertainment District on Malvern Avenue between Spring Street and Bridge Street, Art Interactive is the hands-on portion of Art Springs. Festival Goers can enjoy a sampling of the Hot Springs Renaissance Faire, Interactive Storytime with Lanie Carlson, Big Poppa Bubble, Children's Book Giveaway, Graffiti Wall, lots of arts and crafts from the Garland County Library and Emergent Arts, and more.

Hot Springs Renaissance Faire

Enjoy the merriment of the faire as we share a glimpse of the Hot Springs Renaissance eFAire at Art springs. Play with the pirates, frolic with the far, visit the townsfolk, and even meet the queen herself. Play games, listen to stories, enjoy medieval activities, and even have a chance to become a knight of the realm. All this, and so much more. 

Startstuff Studio Storytime Workshop with Lanie Carlson

Lanie Carlson brings her interactive storytelling to Art Springs. Kids will get to share, create, and play with the story inside the StarstuffStudio Pop-Up Theater, facilitated by Ms. Carlson. Lanie will also facilitate a Storybook Theater Workshop with a small group of kids to explore, play, and perform a story on the Art Springs.

Free Children’s Books

Sponsored by Theta Pi Sorority and a grant from the Hot Springs Community Foundation, HSACA offers free children’s books to Art Springs visitors.

Pre-registration is recommended for this event. 

The Cultural Alliance will host the annual Sidewalk Chalk Event during Arts & The Park-Art Springs. This free, judged sidewalk chalk event is for students in kindergarten through twelfth grades. Judging will occur between 12 and 12:45 PM, with winners announced at the Art Springs Stage at 1:00 PM. The art is created on the sidewalks adjacent to Hill Wheatley Plaza in Hot Springs

Presented by Hot Springs World Class High School Art Club. Free faceprinting for all ages. 

Glover Awards for Songwriting - Art Springs Stage, Hill Wheatley Plaza

6 PM

Henry Glover, a Langston High School alumnus, was a pioneering black songwriter, producer, arranger, A&R man, and musician who grew up in Hot Springs. Later, he became one of the first black music executives and the first black producer of country music. A few titles in Glover's catalog include: "Fever," "Drown In My Own Tears," "Blues Stay Away From Me," "California Sun," and "The Peppermint Twist." To help cement Henry's legacy in his hometown, HSACA created a songwriting competition in his honor. This Glover Awards will be emceed by Arkansong's Stephen Koch. The Glover Awards will be held on Saturday, April 27, at 6 PM on the Art Springs Stage. The Glover Award trophy is handcrafted by artist Brad Wreyford and donated by the Arkansas School for Math Sciences and the Arts.

Under Pressure - Spring Street next to Hill Wheatley Plaza

This event is free and open to the public to watch the block printing done with a steam roller on Springs Street during Art Springs. Any artists wishing to create a block to print must be pre-registered. 

Please join us for Arts & The Park’s 2nd annual Steamroller Print Event, held during Art Springs on April 28, 2024, from 12pm-done. The steamroller print event is organized by Hot Springs Area Cultural Alliance in collaboration with Emergent Arts and Aitoh Specialty Paper. All prints will be displayed at the printing event and later exhibited at Emergent Arts during May Gallery Walk. Participants will supply their own wood block that will be inked and printed under the drum of a 2-ton steamroller.

Big Poppa Bubble - Art Interactive Area

Arkansas's premier big bubble entertainer will be performing big bubble artistry live at Art Springs with two 30-minute sessions. Get ready to be entertained like never before! Big Poppa Bubble brings to you an amazing range of BIG bubbly, extra foamy, fun-filled experiences that will leave you wanting more. The Bubble King is always a POPular hit!
